Instructions for Obtaining a Marriage License

  • Either party to be married may make application in person at the District Court for a Marriage License. 
  • The applying party must bring photo identification (driver’s license, passport, etc.) along with the following information:    Full names, Dates of Birth, and Social Security Numbers for both parties. 
  • A worksheet will be issued when the application is made.  There is a THREE (3) day waiting period, after application is made, before the worksheet may be returned and the license issued. The worksheet must be signed by both parties. 
  • The cost of the license is $85.50 and must be paid in CASH when the worksheet is returned, no other form of payment will be accepted. 
  • The license will expire SIX (6) months from the date of issuance.  The ceremony must be in the state of Kansas. 
  • After the marriage ceremony, the ORIGINAL license must be returned to the District Court.
